YOU SPEAK - I LISTEN - HE WHISPERS 2005

'You speak - I Listen - He sings' is a performance inspired by the myth of Icarus.
It is a staged tale, where the public is actively involved in
interacting with the performer; in a personal continuation of the story
of the myth of Icarus after his fall in the sea.
The wounded Icarus, blinded by the light and the heat of the sun, sinks
in the deepest zone of the ocean. He doesn't die as Dedalo (the father)
believed, and for many years he keeps living in darkness in the depth
of the sea. He slowly recovers, through the whispers of living beings
that help him to overcome his fear of the sun. He reconstructs his
identity and reaches the surface again. The performer and the animated
portrait screened on the TV monitor, together with other elements
installed in the room contributed to involve the viewer in a
spontaneous act of compassion.
'You speak - I listen - He sings' is a staged tale on time and hope,
fundamental elements for the reconstruction of the self. It is also an
homage to the water, the element that runs. It is a tale on the deep
blue, a metaphor for our unconscious, mysterious container of our
memories, labyrinth-hiding place of our victories and failures. It is
also a tale on solidarity, on the human capacity to inspire each other
through narration.
'You speak - I Listen - He sings' e' una performance inspirata dal mito
di Icaro. E' una storia allestita in modo da coinvolgere attivamente il
visitatore nella continuazione della storis originaria di Icaro dopo la
sua caduta nell'oceano. Icaro ferito e accecato dalla luce e dal calore
dei raggi solari, sprofonda nell'oscurita' dell'oceano. Si riprende
lentamente attraverso le storie che il publico gli racconta supera la
paura della luce, ritrova se stesso e ritorna in superfice. Il
performer Icaro, l'Icaro animato che parla nello schermo televisivo e
il modo in cui la stanza e' stata installata creano la giusta atmosfera
per poter coinvolgere lo spettatore in uno spontaneo atto di
compassione.
'You speak - I Listen - He sings' e' una performance sul tempo e sulla
speranza, elementi fondamentali per la ricostruzione del se'. E' anche
un omaggio all'acqua l'elemento che scorre. E' una favola sul profondo
blu, metafora del nostro inconscio, misterioso contenitore di memorie,
labirinto-nascondiglio per le nostre vittorie e I nostri fallimenti. E'
una storia sulla solidarieta', sulla capacita' umana d'inspirare
l'altro attraverso il racconto.
