The work has been made in two years collaboration with Jeffery Doughtie, Death Row inmate in the maximum security prison in Huntsville, Texas.
...The project "A message before leaving" is concerned with the universal theme of man's inhumanity to man. In restoring Jeffery humanity -by giving him a voice- the institutional dehumanization of prison is exposed. The work argues that people who kill are not monsters but are simply flawed. Interestingly it describes a subjectivity which is rarely expressed - that comes out of living year after year with both the consequences of a terrible action and the inevitability of death. It seems to demand that this subjectivity should be addressed, no matter what... David Brittain
Il progetto e' stato realizzato in due anni di collaborazione con Jeffery Doughtie, carcerato nella prigione di massima sicurezza ad Hnetsville, Texas.
...Il progetto "A message before leaving" parla del tema universale dell' inumanita' dell'uomo sull'uomo. Nel restaurare l'umanita' di Jeffery Doughtie la disumanizzazione istituzionale della prigione viene esposta. Il lavoro sostiene che le persone che uccidono non sono dei mostri, ma sono persone psycologicamente danneggiate. Ci mette di fronte ad una soggettivita' che e' raramente espressa, che si forma con anni di rimorsi per il gesto compiuto e con l'inevitabilita' della morte. Sembra richiedere che questa soggettivita' debba essere presa in considerazione, a tutti i costi... David Brittain

The project is about the city of Prague, the communist regime and capitalist aggression.
The short film is visually based on a sliding slow movement of still images accompanied by interviews with people telling about their personal histories crossed with the history of their own countries. It is a project about politics, social changes, food, personal and collective dreams and desires.
Il progetto riguarda la citta' di Praga, il regime comunista e l'aggressione capitalista. Il cortometraggio e basato visivamente su un lento scivolamento d' immagini fotografiche con uno sfondo sonoro parlato di persone intervistate che parlano delle storie personali che s'incrociano con la storia delle nazioni. E' un progetto sulla politica, sui combiamenti sociali, sui sogni e i desideri individuali e collettivi
